K-9 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times We start with a standard drug movie and end up with so many monologues to the dog that the dialogue coach must have needed a pooper scooper. Liam D An mixture of an Buddy cop movie and an man with his dog story and while those two don’t normally mixed well and the jokes do get stale it isn’t horrible Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review C.S.R I love this film! In my opinion it's the best dog/buddy movie.I love how the dog knows everything he's talking about. Jerry Lee is the best K-9 partner ever! Jim Belushi and the dog have awesome chemistry and made the movie hilarious. Can't recommended enough! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Martin B Just horrible. The dog was adorable but it was just a steady stream of a dog barking and Belushi's quips. Add in a silly premise where all the scenes had to fit the dogs training and Belushi's witticism's and it was mostly a waste of time.No Turner and Hootch for sure and can you believe it they made another one over a decade later with even worse ratings. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Jack O It's K-9, a film about a cop and a dog. Now there's something in comparison to Turner and Hooch, with it's comedic elements with a funny pooch dog and Tom Hanks and a sad ending. OK, I don't wanna be thinking about it again. This one does the same thing and people slammed it for being lacking, lacking some sense of comedy and not being funny. James Belushi as Mike Dooley is out to track down a drug dealer called Lyman but he was set up and now he gets a new partner which is a dog named Jerry Lee. Now what is it with K-9 which looks similar to Turner and Hooch? Well, I don't know. I'll leave you to figure it out for yourself and see what you like better. With what I got with Turner and Hooch and with now what I've got with K-9, I just think it's better than each other. And do I think it's better than with what it is with Turner and Hooch? That's a little trickier. I mean the ending is not sad and thank Christ, I didn't cry at it. But with what I think of it, I do got some of sense of comedy in this movie. James Belushi is funny and I really like it when the dog looks away from Dooley making him not knowing that he is alive, And in many respects, I would almost rather watch this than Turner and Hooch, now that is to say it's not very popular at that time but still lifts up to it's fans. If you like both of them a lot more, be their guests. See if K-9 can do you any good and see what you think of it or not. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Steve D Not for kids but too childish for adults. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A charming duo in an under-rated movie. That wasn’t as popular as Turner & Hooch from the same year. Points for not killing off the dog. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/07/22 Full Review Read all reviews
